As a Civil Engineer 1 in the Water division at Black & Veatch, you will function in an engineering capacity under close supervision. This role involves performing routine aspects of engineering assignments that require a foundational knowledge and application of basic engineering principles. You will apply your understanding of engineering principles to prescribed techniques and procedures to complete project assignments effectively. Your contributions will be essential in developing familiarity with departmental design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes, as well as Black & Veatch's policies and procedures. In this position, you will be expected to support the quality program at Black & Veatch and engage in continuous improvement and change management efforts. You will contribute to the preparation of less complex engineering deliverables, including drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope. Additionally, you will perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection, while collecting, assimilating, and managing data for engineering work. Basic engineering calculations will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Project coordination is another key aspect of your role, where you will share information with others as requested and coordinate with team members when directed by your supervisor or project leadership. A client-focused approach is essential, as you will need to understand the needs of internal clients while gaining insight into external clients' main interests and drivers. You may also provide support for business development or pursuit activities. Knowledge sharing, innovation, and technology are encouraged, and you will be expected to share your current knowledge of the latest technology and processes with your colleagues. This position is an individual contributor role, and while no prior experience is required, a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is necessary to qualify for this position.
