About the position

As a Civil Engineer 1 at Westinghouse Electric Company, you will be part of an innovative team dedicated to providing clean energy solutions. This hybrid position requires you to work on-site at the Westinghouse Global Headquarters in Cranberry Woods, PA, for two days a week. Your primary responsibilities will involve supporting civil and structural design activities, which include creating calculations for structural steel or concrete design. You will also address technical issues that arise during the fabrication, assembly, and construction phases of civil and structural projects. This may involve providing technical justification for design changes and troubleshooting emergent technical issues as they occur. In addition to design support, you will provide on-site assistance at various utilities and smaller projects as needed. Familiarity with analytical tools such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and GTSTRUDL will be beneficial in your role. You will also aid in maintaining software compliance records and closing engineering corrective actions. It is essential to become familiar with applicable industry civil and structural codes and standards, such as ACI, AISC, and AWS, as well as company policies and procedures. You will be responsible for developing engineering sketches and markups using AutoCAD or similar CAD programs, contributing to the overall success of the projects you are involved in.

Responsibilities

  • Support civil/structural design activities including calculation creation for structural steel or concrete design.
  • Address technical issues related to fabrication, assembly, and construction phases of civil/structural projects.
  • Provide on-site support at various utilities and smaller projects when required.
  • Gain familiarity with analytical tools such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and GTSTRUDL.
  • Aid in maintenance of software compliance records and closure of engineering corrective actions.
  • Become familiar with applicable industry civil/structural codes and standards (such as ACI, AISC, AWS) and company policies and procedures.
  • Develop engineering sketches and markups using AutoCAD or similar CAD programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Civil/Structural Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • 0-3 years of experience in civil/structural engineering required.
  • Prior Nuclear Industry experience preferred.
  • Prior Westinghouse internship experience is preferred.
  • FE certification is a plus.
