About the position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated, and technically minded Civil Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our team in Spokane, Washington. This position is integral to our collaborative approach, where we serve as both prime consultant and sub consultant on a variety of projects across multiple sectors including commercial, institutional, government, industrial, healthcare, and energy services. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering innovative and value-based solutions to our clients. As a Civil Engineer at Coffman, you will apply your engineering skills to challenging projects, working closely with a multi-discipline design team. Your responsibilities will include design, permitting, and providing construction-related assistance for site development and municipal/transportation projects. You will also engage in hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical studies, and the preparation of site or public improvement plans, grading, storm water management, and utility plans. Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering skills to challenging projects in various market sectors.
  • Design, permit, and provide construction-related assistance for site development and municipal/transportation projects.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and technical studies.
  • Prepare site or public improvement plans, grading, storm water management, and utility plans.
  • Coordinate with a multi-discipline design team to ensure project success.
  • Collaborate with counterparts in other offices to share workload when required.
  • Engage in effective technical writing and communication with team members and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Civil Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification required.
  • Working towards registration as a Civil Professional Engineer (PE) or already licensed preferred.
  • Three to five years of professional engineering experience in design, permitting, and construction assistance.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and technical studies.
  • Proficiency in preparing site or public improvement, grading, storm water management, and utility plans.
  • Experience in coordinating with a multi-discipline design team preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Effective technical writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • A positive, can-do attitude.
