About the position

As a Civil Engineer 3 specializing in Site Development at Black & Veatch, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of civil site development projects. This position involves assisting in the design, construction, and project management of a diverse range of projects, including grading design, stormwater management, erosion control, culvert design, and pavement design. You will have hands-on involvement in the permitting process and will interact significantly with multidisciplinary internal teams and external clients. Your work will contribute to various market sectors, including Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial, allowing you to engage in exciting projects globally, from small community improvements to large-scale mega projects. In this role, you will be responsible for performing project designs from the conceptual phase through to completion, ensuring that project needs and requirements set by project managers are met. You will assist the Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules and budgets, interface directly with clients or sub-consultants, and support business development efforts by writing technical approaches and scopes of work. Effective communication with other engineering disciplines and project teams will be essential to your success in this position. This role offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life while contributing to meaningful infrastructure development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design of projects from the conceptual and bid phase through design completion for project needs and requirements set by project managers.
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Interface directly with the client or sub-consultants under the direction of the Engineering Manager.
  • Support business development through writing technical approaches, scopes of work, and presentations to clients.
  • Ensure effective communication with other engineering disciplines and project teams.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience.
  • Licensed EIT and/or Licensed Professional Engineer or be in active pursuit of registration.
