About the position

Huitt-Zollars, Inc. is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager for our Dallas office. This position offers a unique opportunity for a young professional Engineer to assist transit Project Managers with daily project management activities. The ideal candidate will engage in preparing work plans, developing and updating project design schedules, and preparing agendas for internal coordination and client meetings. Additionally, the role involves assembling project deliverables and performing design calculations, as well as preparing plans and specifications for track, roadway, or bridge design projects, depending on the candidate's background. This role is designed to help the candidate develop their engineering skills while working closely with experienced Project Managers. By collaborating with a diverse range of project managers, the candidate will gain exposure to various problem-solving methodologies and management styles, paving the way for future success in project management. The Assistant Project Manager will manage all aspects of the project, including scope of work development, fee development, and subconsultant management. Furthermore, the candidate will assist in business development and project pursuits, while interacting and collaborating with clients, owners, subconsultants, and other disciplines involved in the projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the transit Project Manager with daily project management activities such as preparing a work plan and developing project design schedules.
  • Prepare agendas for internal coordination meetings and client meetings.
  • Assemble project deliverables and perform design calculations.
  • Prepare plans and specifications for track, roadway, or bridge design based on the candidate's background.
  • Manage all project aspects including scope of work development, fee development, and subconsultant management.
  • Assist in transit business development and project pursuits efforts.
  • Interact and collaborate with clients, owners, subconsultants, and other disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • 5+ years of experience working on transit, transportation, or bridge projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or ability to obtain in six months.
  • Effective communication skills to engage with project teams.
  • Open-mindedness to alternative methods from previous teachings.
  • Experience with MicroStation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in civil, highway, transportation, or bridge design.
