About the position

The Civil Engineer/Construction Management Intern position at Holcim US is a 10-week paid internship for Summer 2025, aimed at students pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering or related fields. The intern will gain hands-on experience in asphalt production and contracting, contributing to various projects while focusing on sustainability and operational efficiency. This role offers opportunities for professional development and exposure to the building materials industry, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Dive into operational procedures, production/maintenance activities, and product knowledge at asphalt sites.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify process correlations and contribute to project strategies.
  • Assist in planning, designing, and executing asphalt and contracting projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for asphalt paving and contracting projects.
  • Conduct testing and analysis of asphalt and other construction materials for quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and contractors to coordinate project activities.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations and achieve team goals.
  • Present learnings and contributions to the executive leadership team at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field.
