Thomas & Hutton is seeking a motivated and driven Civil Engineer Designer - EIT to focus on Mission Critical design. This position is integral to our team, where civil designers are expected to prepare site development construction drawings and engineering design considerations for water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure. The role involves working on permit applications associated with residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Regular client interaction is a key aspect of this position, necessitating excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D software, which are essential tools for this role. As a Civil Engineer Designer, you will be responsible for designing complex campus underground utility infrastructure specifically for Mission Critical/Data Center clients. This includes the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and permits. You will utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to design and model underground utility infrastructure, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary standards and client requirements. Additionally, you will attend and provide technical input during client conversations and multi-discipline design meetings, which are crucial for project success. Analyzing data, existing site information, and entitlements will also be part of your responsibilities to assist Mission Critical clients with site selection. Furthermore, you will review the work of other team members to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university and a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, with 4-5 years preferred. Candidates should possess EIT Certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months. A Professional Engineer (PE) registration or Engineer Intern (EI) registration with the ability to obtain PE within 12 months is also preferred. The role demands a strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to work collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, high-achieving team.
