This position may involve serving as a technical lead, project manager, or task manager on various projects, particularly focusing on water treatment engineering design. You will be responsible for applying engineering principles and standards to direct and perform engineering tasks, ensuring that all project elements are designed effectively and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include the development of construction and bid documents, overseeing the construction administration process, and conducting on-site construction observations. You will also be tasked with performing Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews to ensure compliance with KLJ's quality standards. Engaging with stakeholders and clients through meetings will be a key part of your role, as will mentoring and training group members to foster a collaborative work environment. Effective communication, both written and oral, is essential to succeed in this position. As an Engineer at KLJ, you will demonstrate competencies in water treatment engineering, including master planning, hydraulic calculations, and the design of water treatment and storage systems. You will be responsible for managing project elements, including client management, permitting, and plan development. Your role may also involve preparing and reviewing reports, facilitating public or client meetings, and assisting with scope, fee, and schedule development. Additionally, you may have opportunities to market to existing or potential clients and may serve as the Engineer of Record for deliverables. This position offers a chance to lead medium-scale projects with support from senior staff, contributing to the growth and success of KLJ Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles and standards to perform and direct engineering tasks
  • Design project elements and oversee the design process
  • Develop construction and bid documents in accordance with organizational and client processes
  • Manage the construction administration process and direct on-site construction observation
  • Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews to ensure compliance with KLJ quality standards
  • Participate in and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients
  • Instruct, train, and mentor group members
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication
  • Demonstrate water treatment engineering competencies
  • Conduct master planning and hydraulic calculations
  • Design water treatment and storage systems
  • Coordinate permitting and agency interactions
  • Complete project tasks independently or in teams
  • Plan, organize, and manage project elements including client management
  • Prepare and review written reports and other documents
  • Assist with preparing for and facilitating public and/or client meetings
  • Assist with scope, fee, and schedule development
  • Market to existing or potential clients and obtain work
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for deliverables
  • Lead proposal and interview development with support from senior staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited post-secondary institution
  • Professional Engineer licensure
  • Prior Engineering Consultant Experience
  • Water Treatment and Hydraulic Engineering Experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate motorized vehicles

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or Post-Doctoral Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited post-secondary institution
