About the position

TRC is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) for our growing Civil Engineering Services team in Phoenix, Arizona. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to work with other engineers, project managers, and other technical staff assisting with planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects, such as site development, industrial facilities, renewable energy, and municipal infrastructure including design of roadways, drainage facilities, site grading, water/wastewater, water and sanitary sewer utilities. This position offers the opportunity to tackle interesting and meaningful projects while working in a collaborative environment that values entrepreneurial spirit and agile corporate structure. As a Civil Engineer-in-Training, you will assist Project Managers and Project Engineers in the production of project plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates. You will also be involved in construction management tasks such as material submittal reviews and coordination with Contractors. Your role will encompass all project aspects including design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction. You will conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections, and assist with data collection, compilation, and assessment for infrastructure projects. The position requires you to decipher civil site backgrounds, work with nested External Reference Files (Xrefs), adhere to company drafting standards, and create design details from sketches and manufacturers datasheets. You will be expected to efficiently produce quality outputs while meeting budget and schedules on multiple concurrent projects, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, and public agencies. Your initial project assignment will involve onsite support for ongoing water & wastewater system operations and construction in the Chandler-area, including water sampling, field documentation, and reporting. You will also provide construction field office support for engineering and water system operations staff, facilitating, coordinating, and reporting on construction management team meetings.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable.
  • Physically able to perform work in the field.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 plus years of related experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification.
  • Experience using computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents (examples include software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS).
