About the position

Kimley-Horn's Virginia Beach, Virginia office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 5 years of experience to join their Energy team. This position is not remote and offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects within the energy sector. The Energy team is involved in several key areas including pipeline design, solar site design, natural gas metering and regulation stations, control design and integration, project due diligence, and site constraints. Additionally, the role involves jurisdictional permitting and agency coordination, which are critical components of the engineering process in this field. As a Civil Engineer in this role, you will be responsible for monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules, ensuring that all aspects of the projects are on track and within the allocated resources. You will have the chance to build meaningful internal and external professional relationships, working closely with a team of engineers and designers, as well as various jurisdictions and contractors. Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering design experience
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Experience within the Energy discipline including design, permitting, and applicable software applications
  • Experience with task management, concept design, and assisting project management tasks
  • Familiarity with coordinating with clients and attending client meetings
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Ability to build plan sets and other construction documents
  • Design experience that includes utilities, site layout, drainage, due diligence, and permitting
