About the position

Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineering Graduate/EIT at our Sherman office. The candidate will work collaboratively in a team environment supporting project managers with a variety of civil engineering projects. This position has significant growth opportunities for the right candidate. The role involves producing design and construction drawings using information from supervisors, researching data, and input from consultants. The candidate will also be responsible for producing design plans for public agency and private development projects, which will include preparations of plan and profiles of streets and other underground utilities. Additionally, the candidate will assist project managers with design plans, specifications, construction support, cost estimating, and geotechnical coordination. The position requires conducting site visits and assisting with documenting findings, attending, recording, and distributing meeting minutes, and assisting with general project correspondence. The candidate will also compose and prepare graphic materials for presentations and documents. Responsibilities

  • Produce design and construction drawings using information from supervisor, research data, and input from consultants.
  • Produce design plans for public agency and private development projects.
  • Prepare plans and profiles of streets and other underground utilities.
  • Assist project manager with design plans, specifications, construction support, cost estimating, and geotechnical coordination.
  • Research materials and assemblies for design and construction drawings as directed by supervisor.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with documenting findings.
  • Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes, and assist with general project correspondence.
  • Compose and prepare graphic materials for presentations and documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • 0-4 years' related experience.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Capability to utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Advanced MicroStation, GeoPak, and Open Roads is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and techniques.
  • Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications for projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced software tools like MicroStation, GeoPak, and Open Roads.
  • Membership in professional societies related to civil engineering.
