AECOM is seeking a Mid-Level Civil Engineer for the Surface Transportation Department in Colorado Springs, CO. This position involves working on a variety of projects that may include the design of urban and rural roadways, interstate highways, interchanges, and design-build projects. The role requires a strong understanding of geometric design principles, as the engineer will be responsible for creating horizontal and vertical alignments and models for roadways. Additionally, the engineer will prepare design reports, including design study reports and technical memorandums, and coordinate with various project stakeholders such as clients, the public, utility companies, and permitting agencies. The engineer will also be tasked with plan preparation for roadway plans in accordance with Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) or local standards. This includes calculating quantities and estimates for transportation projects and providing specialized technical input to studies and design in their area of expertise. Participation in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables is expected, as well as preparing technical specification sections and contributing to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements. Under the supervision of a senior engineer, the Mid-Level Civil Engineer will perform specific and limited portions of broader assignments, gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures, and work on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations while identifying discrepancies in results. The engineer will propose approaches to solve new problems encountered and provide guidance to entry-level engineers. Proficiency in using analytic and design skills, as well as computer software for solving engineering problems, is essential. The engineer will ensure that all work is performed in accordance with agreed-upon budgets and schedules, delivering quality work products to clients. Collaboration with design teams consisting of multidiscipline design engineers, technicians, and planners is a key aspect of this role, as is effective communication with peers both in person and online.
