About the position

The Civil Engineer (Highway) (Project Manager) position is responsible for coordinating engineering activities to deliver multiple federal transportation improvement projects. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including local, state, and federal agencies, to ensure project objectives are met. The position requires effective communication and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and oversee project development from scoping to construction.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate overall civil engineering activities for federal transportation improvement projects.
  • Provide liaison, negotiation, and consultation to local, state, and federal officials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to set project scope, schedule, budget, and quality plans.
  • Lead project meetings with stakeholders and monitor overall project status.
  • Serve as the contracting officer's representative (COR) for architect/engineer (A/E) projects.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and specialized experience in project management.
  • Experience establishing working relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Experience in the design and development of plans, specifications, and estimates for roadway and/or bridge projects.
  • Experience managing transportation improvement projects, including analyzing information and making decisions on complex engineering questions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with federal transportation projects.
  • Knowledge of highway design principles and theories.
