About the position

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Highway and Transportation Design in New York City, NY. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including roadway and site-civil design, as well as project management for highway, bridge, and rail projects. The position requires strong technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a design team to meet client needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation details.
  • Design rail projects and manage civil projects.
  • Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needs.
  • Develop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Implement 3D CADD modeling techniques.
  • Develop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standards.
  • Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures.
  • Complete interdisciplinary technical reviews.
  • Contribute to internal project-related staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule, scope, and budget.
  • Prepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitations.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, clients, and subconsultants in a professional manner as required by the AECOM project manager.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client's scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making.
  • Provide support to AECOM project managers and department managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent engineering degree accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Demonstrated experience with highway transportation projects located in the United States.
