Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world's leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, is seeking a self-motivated Civil Engineer to be located in the Iowa Field Office in Huxley, Iowa. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team of biologists and engineers who are responsible for the planning, design, and construction of wetland restoration and enhancement projects. This position primarily focuses on projects in Iowa, with occasional work in Illinois and Missouri. The role requires a proactive approach to project management and collaboration with various stakeholders, including local, state, and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners. As a Civil Engineer at Ducks Unlimited, you will perform a full range of project planning, design, contracting, and construction management functions on wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects. Your responsibilities will include scoping and proposal development, conducting surveys, engineering design, project bidding, field inspection, and occasional construction management. You will be expected to prepare proposals, scope of work, and budgets in close coordination with biological staff, ensuring that all engineering designs and reports meet the necessary standards. Additionally, you will attend project meetings, perform topographic surveys, and conduct field inspections to oversee construction management as needed. The position also involves ensuring that consultants and contractors adhere to project plans, specifications, and schedules. You may assist with occasional fieldwork, which could include strenuous outdoor activities in difficult environmental conditions. The ability to operate an ATV and outboard boat when necessary is also required.
