About the position
Kimley-Horn's Frisco, Texas office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience to join their Surface Water team. This role involves supporting the water resources practice by collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on various public and private projects, including surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and flood studies. The position requires technical writing and the preparation of hydraulic/hydrology studies, drainage reports, and design documents.
Responsibilities
- Support the growing water resources practice by working with multi-disciplinary teams for various clients.
- Engage in projects including surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and flood studies.
- Prepare hydraulic/hydrology studies, drainage reports, and design documents for water resources projects.
- Conduct technical writing for memorandums, feasibility studies, and regulatory submittals.
- Assist in developing scopes of work and associated budgets for projects.
- Participate in watershed and stormwater master planning.
- Contribute to the development of planning level documents and Capital Improvement Plans (CIP).
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HydroCAD, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, and related software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Positive attitude and self-motivated with a sense of urgency to produce high-quality work.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.
