About the position

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to support the Asset Management Bureau in shaping Vermont's transportation future. This role involves providing data-driven recommendations for investments in the state's highway network, which is valued at over $8 billion. The selected candidate will engage in early phases of decision-making processes that determine funding allocations for construction projects across Vermont's extensive highway system. This position offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact the development of the state's transportation infrastructure while enjoying a flexible hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide background information and recommendations for construction projects across Vermont's highway network.
  • Engage in early phases of decision-making processes regarding investment in the highway network.
  • Collaborate with team leaders to maximize the impact of taxpayer dollars on transportation safety and reliability.
  • Conduct fieldwork that may involve exposure to hazardous materials and construction sites.
  • Attend public meetings and work outside of regular hours as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or a related technical field.
  • OR an Associate's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or a related technical field with two years of engineering experience.
  • OR licensure as an Engineer Intern.
  • OR be a college senior in the final year of a bachelor's degree program in civil engineering or a related field.
