The City of Monroe is seeking a Civil Engineer I specializing in Water Resources to join its dynamic team. This position involves performing intermediate professional work in the design and construction of various public works and utility facilities. The successful candidate will work under limited supervision, contributing to the development and design of public utility and public works infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include preparing project plans and specifications, conducting plan reviews, and maintaining accurate files and records. The role requires technical design expertise from the planning phase through to approvals and construction, ensuring that all projects conform to established standards and specifications. As a project engineer, the individual will inspect construction projects for compliance with plans and specifications, prepare and review construction estimates, and engage in engineering research. The Civil Engineer I will also provide technical assistance to contractors and the general public regarding engineering projects, and will be involved in the preparation of contractor proposals and related materials. The position requires the ability to analyze survey reports and other data, maintain engineering files, and prepare necessary reports. Additionally, the engineer will assist with various programs related to inflow and infiltration, sewer asset management, and the City’s grinder pump program, among other responsibilities.
