About the position

Wilsey Ham is a well-established and growing 80-year-old Civil Engineering, Surveying and Construction Management firm with offices in San Mateo, Pleasant Hill, and Chico, California. Our firm provides a full array of commercial and residential land development design; public works design including street and pavement design; water, sewer, and storm drain hydraulic modeling and infrastructure design; retaining wall and small structure design; and surveying and mapping services. Our staff has the opportunity to work on a broad array of challenging and interesting public and private projects. A career with us is an excellent opportunity to learn from some of the best civil engineers, surveyors, and construction managers. We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering - Engineer II. This position will work under the general direction of a Project Manager or Supervising Engineer. We are looking for a California Registered PE or EIT candidate with eligibility to take the examination for registration, with a minimum of five years of experience. This position offers a potential hybrid environment, allowing work time to be divided between the office and home upon management approval. The ideal candidate for this opportunity can work independently, has sound technical skills, is team-oriented, personable, and possesses a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the business. This position requires a well-organized and versatile individual who is experienced in civil engineering design.

Responsibilities

  • Design of projects under direction of a registered Engineer
  • Performs studies, calculations, and designs and preparation of reports in accordance with project requirements and engineering standards
  • Preparation of construction documents
  • Quality control of work products self-produced
  • Occasional assistance with marketing/estimating work effort

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of five years of design experience, some project management experience is a plus
  • California PE License or eligibility to take the examination for registration
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including an ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with staff and project teams
