The Geotechnical Section at the Agency of Transportation is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Berlin, VT. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects, from initial scoping through to construction. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will collaborate closely with teams in Structures, Roadway, Construction, and Maintenance, ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting subsurface investigations, performing engineering soils testing and analyses, and developing recommendations for bridge and pavement foundations, retaining walls, and landslide repairs. Your work will involve both field and office environments, allowing you to engage in site reconnaissance activities, sampling and logging of borings, and laboratory testing of soils. You will also be tasked with the geotechnical design of foundations and landslides, as well as field inspections of geotechnical items on construction projects. The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position reports to the Construction and Materials Bureau Headquarters in Berlin, VT, and offers the possibility of remote work, providing flexibility in your work schedule.
