About the position

Merrick & Company is looking for a Civil Water/Wastewater Engineer to join their Water Group in various locations in Colorado. The role involves the design and construction oversight of water and wastewater infrastructure, requiring a blend of technical expertise and interpersonal skills to effectively manage projects and communicate with clients and government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments in the analysis and design of water and wastewater systems.
• Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports, and work products.
• Provide construction support and oversight, including administration and limited inspection.
• Review designs by others for conformance to design standards and support municipal water and sewer operations and maintenance.
• Perform independent design tasks and prepare bid documents including drawings and specifications.
• Organize all drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables after receiving initial instructions from the project manager.
• Make sound engineering decisions and exercise initiative and judgment in line with the responsibilities of the position.
• Interface effectively with clients and Local, State, and Federal government agencies.
• Lead project progress meetings and make project presentations.
• Provide clear written communications and manage projects as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.
• Four (4) to eight (8) years of experience in the design and construction oversight of water and/or wastewater systems.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record, insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree preferred.
• Colorado Water Distribution System Operator license and/or Colorado Wastewater Collections System Operator license.
• Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience with Water/Sanitary Sewer modeling, BioWin Modeling, GIS Systems and Programs.
• Public works design experience with local, State, and Federal governments.
