About the position

The City of Greeley is seeking a Civil Engineer III or IV to join the Engineering division of the Water and Sewer Department. This mid to senior level engineering position will report directly to the Chief Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a variety of water distribution and transmission projects, ranging from simple to complex, and will be expected to handle multiple projects concurrently. The role encompasses a wide array of responsibilities including planning, budgeting, permitting, design, and construction of the City’s water distribution and transmission systems. In this position, the Civil Engineer will play a crucial role in the expansion and rehabilitation of the water distribution system. This includes significant collaboration with both operations and engineering staff to optimize the system for improved water quality, pressure management within each zone, fire flow adequacy, and the functionality of storage reservoirs and pump stations. The Engineer will also be involved in the long-term planning and buildout of the water distribution system, ensuring that it meets the current and future needs of the community. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills and a comprehensive understanding of civil engineering principles as they relate to water distribution and transmission. They will be expected to manage consultants effectively and ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget, while adhering to all regulatory requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple water distribution and transmission projects concurrently.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards during project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on water distribution and transmission systems.
• Strong project management skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AutoCAD and other engineering design software.
• Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software and water quality analysis.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to water distribution.
