About the position

Bowman is seeking a Civil Engineer III to join our team in Sunrise, FL. This role involves carrying out complex assignments that require the development of new or improved civil engineering techniques and procedures. The Civil Engineer III will work independently and collaboratively to provide technical direction, assist in project management, and ensure quality assurance in engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives and critical issues.
  • Independently apply extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
  • Assist with marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients.
  • Work with senior engineers, clients, and design teams on complex project issues.
  • Review and interpret zoning regulations in various municipalities.
  • Assist project teams with obtaining local and state permits for land development projects.
  • Conceptualize the initial civil design approach for assigned phases of land/site development.
  • Serve as a lead in the technical direction over less experienced engineers.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolving design problems through field investigations and inspections.
  • Make design recommendations and adaptations.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
  • Create design work using computer-aided or manual drafting techniques.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning project direction.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and assist in design/plan reviews.
  • Review plans and prepare/review technical specifications and estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in the land development industry.
  • Experience with large- and small-scale drainage and BMP design preferred.
  • Proficiency with civil engineering design software such as Civil3D.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, and other relevant software preferred.
  • Proficient with Storm Drain Modeling and Rational Method Hydrologic Calculations.
  • Experience researching zoning and development standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HEC-RAS modeling and CLOMR/LOMR applications.
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate on multiple projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
