About the position

TRC Solutions Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our growing Civil Engineering Services team in Austin, TX. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic individual eager to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technical staff on a variety of civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will assist in planning, designing, and overseeing projects that include site development, industrial facilities, and municipal infrastructure. Responsibilities will encompass the design of roadways, drainage facilities, site grading, and water and sanitary sewer utilities. As a Civil Engineer III, you will play a crucial role in supporting Project Managers and Project Engineers in the production of project plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates. You will also assist with construction management tasks, including material submittal reviews and coordination with contractors. Your involvement will span all project aspects, from design and study development to site visits during both design and construction phases. You will conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections, assisting with data collection and assessment for infrastructure projects. The role requires proficiency in deciphering civil site backgrounds, working with nested External Reference Files (Xrefs), adhering to company drafting standards, and creating design details from sketches and manufacturers' datasheets. You will be expected to efficiently produce quality outputs while meeting budget and schedule requirements across multiple concurrent projects. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and public agencies is essential, along with other responsibilities as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Project Engineers in the production of project plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Assist Project Managers and Project Engineers with construction management tasks such as material submittal reviews and coordination with Contractors.
  • Be involved in all project aspects including design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections, and assist with data collection, compilation, and assessment for infrastructure projects.
  • Decipher civil site backgrounds, work with nested External Reference Files (Xrefs), adhere to company drafting standards, and create design details from sketches and manufacturers datasheets.
  • Efficiently produce quality outputs while meeting budget and schedules on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, clients, and public agencies.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline and 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Active Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification for State of Texas required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel required.
  • Experience using computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents (examples include software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable.
  • Physically able to perform work in the field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Civil 3D.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving scope, schedule, and budget goals.
