The Transportation & Environmental Services Department is inviting qualified individuals to apply for the Civil Engineer III position in the Sanitary Infrastructure Division. In this position, the Civil Engineer III will monitor sanitary sewer projects, ensuring that all work performed by consultant teams adheres to the defined scope, schedule, and budget. They will also ensure that projects comply with all applicable City standards and local, state, and federal regulations. Collaboration with the Department of Project Implementation is crucial to facilitate a smooth transition of projects from the planning phase to design and construction. The engineer will conduct comprehensive reviews of engineering plans, specifications, and related documents throughout the design process and will monitor projects during construction. Additionally, the Civil Engineer III will engage with stakeholders, present information regarding sanitary-related programs to residents, outside agencies, senior staff, and City officials, and assist in developing the Sanitary Sewer Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and operating budget for the division. Regular reporting of project progress to the senior project engineer is expected, along with seeking assistance for any project challenges encountered. The role also emphasizes continuous professional development, requiring the engineer to meet certification requirements and seek coaching on unfamiliar tasks.
