About the position

As a Civil/Construction Engineer Intern at Holcim for Summer 2025, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on sustainable building practices. This 10-week paid internship, starting on May 27th, 2025, will provide you with hands-on experience in the asphalt and contracting sector. You will be based at our Wrentham, MA site, with opportunities to travel to various local sites throughout the program. This role is designed for students who are eager to learn and grow in a high-performance culture that prioritizes sustainability and innovation. During your internship, you will engage in a variety of tasks that will enhance your understanding of civil engineering principles and practices. You will dive into operational procedures, production and maintenance activities, and product knowledge at our asphalt sites. Your responsibilities will include collecting and analyzing data to identify process correlations, assisting in the planning and execution of asphalt projects, and preparing cost estimates and budgets. You will also conduct material testing to ensure quality and collaborate with engineers and project managers to address on-site issues. Safety is a top priority at Holcim, and you will assist in implementing and monitoring safety protocols to ensure compliance with company standards. At the end of your internship, you will have the opportunity to present your learnings and contributions to our executive leadership team, showcasing your growth and the value you added during your time with us.

Responsibilities

  • Dive into operational procedures, production/maintenance activities, and product knowledge at asphalt sites.
  • Collect and analyze data, identify process correlations, and contribute to project strategies.
  • Assist in planning, designing, and executing asphalt and contracting projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for asphalt paving and contracting projects.
  • Conduct testing and analysis of asphalt and other construction materials for quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and contractors to coordinate project activities.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring safety protocols and procedures.
  • Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations to achieve team goals.
  • Present learnings and contributions to the executive leadership team at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Geographic flexibility to work at various sites.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience.
