About the position

The Civil/Construction Engineer Intern position at Holcim is a 10-week paid internship for Summer 2025, aimed at students passionate about sustainability and eager to gain hands-on experience in the building materials industry. Interns will work closely with the Asphalt and Contracting team, engaging in various operational and project-related tasks while developing key production and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Dive into operational procedures, production/maintenance activities, and product knowledge at asphalt sites.
  • Collect and analyze data, identify process correlations, and contribute to project strategies.
  • Assist in planning, designing, and executing asphalt and contracting projects.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for asphalt paving and contracting projects.
  • Conduct testing and analysis of asphalt and other construction materials for quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and contractors to coordinate project activities.
  • Implement and monitor safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with Holcim standards.
  • Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations and achieve team goals.
  • Present learnings and contributions to the executive leadership team at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience.
