About the position

Halff Associates Inc. is actively seeking a Civil Engineer Intern for our Public Works/Transportation team located in Richardson, TX. This internship is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or an ABET accredited equivalent Engineering Degree. The intern will work under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer and will be involved in various aspects of civil engineering projects related to public works and transportation. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field while contributing to meaningful projects that impact the community. As a Civil Engineer Intern, you will assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for public works and transportation projects. You will perform drafting work using CAD software, conduct calculations and analysis for design projects, and help prepare permit applications and other regulatory documents. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors, to ensure project success. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies, further enhancing your professional development and understanding of the industry. This internship is a full-time position, typically requiring 40 hours per week, from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, during the summer of 2025. Please note that Halff does not provide housing for interns, so candidates should be prepared to secure their own accommodations during the internship period.

Responsibilities

  • Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer

Requirements
