About the position

As a Civil Engineer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will be part of a dynamic Summer Internship Program designed to provide students with valuable experience in a professional working environment. This internship offers meaningful work assignments that will allow you to apply your academic knowledge in real-world scenarios. The internship is full-time and will take place in Charleston, SC, where you will engage in various engineering tasks that contribute to the company's mission of building sustainable infrastructure. In this role, you will develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings, which are essential components of engineering projects. You will perform a variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs, ensuring that projects meet the required standards and specifications. Your responsibilities will also include preparing basic calculations, assisting in basic equipment selection, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines to ensure project deliverables are met on schedule. You will collect, organize, and evaluate data, analyze systems utilizing computer modeling, and organize and file project materials and references to maintain an efficient workflow. This internship is an individual contributor role, meaning you will work independently on assigned tasks while also collaborating with your team members. The position does not require prior experience, making it an excellent opportunity for students currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited university in a Civil Engineering program with an emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical engineering. You will be expected to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks and drug screening, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements
