About the position

As a Civil Engineer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will be part of a dynamic Summer Internship Program designed to provide students with valuable experience in a professional working environment. This internship offers meaningful work assignments that will allow you to apply your academic knowledge in real-world scenarios. In this role, you will engage in various tasks that support engineering analyses, report production, and design processes. Your responsibilities will include developing, evaluating, and designing specifications and contract drawings, as well as preparing basic calculations and assisting in equipment selection. You will also coordinate with other engineering disciplines, schedule project deliverables, and collect, organize, and evaluate data. Utilizing computer modeling, you will analyze systems and organize project materials and references to ensure efficient project execution. This internship is an individual contributor role, allowing you to take initiative and demonstrate your problem-solving skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings
  • Perform a variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs
  • Prepare basic calculations

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering program with emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks and drug screening
