As an intern, you will be challenged to assist project engineers and project managers with a variety of tasks that encompass several aspects of civil engineering. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about problem-solving and eager to learn in a collaborative environment. The internship is ideally structured for 40 hours per week during the summer months, with the potential to transition to a part-time schedule during the academic year. You will take direction from supervisors and other staff members, preparing engineering calculations, cost estimates, and reports. Additionally, you will create engineering exhibits and plan sheets, solve technical problems, and gain proficiency in computer-aided drafting software. As you progress, assignments of increasing difficulty will be provided, allowing you to develop your skills and understanding of the company's standard CAD procedures and drawing layouts. Maintaining a neat and orderly work area is essential to facilitate access to project information for your team members. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work with various project teams, contributing to project completion while enhancing your knowledge and experience in civil engineering. Responsibilities

  • Assist project engineers and project managers with design and administrative tasks.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, cost estimates, and reports.
  • Prepare engineering exhibits and plan sheets.
  • Solve technical problems as they arise.
  • Learn proficiency in the operation of computer-aided drafting software.
  • Follow the company's standard CAD procedures for levels, line styles, etc.
  • Work with numerous project teams to help in project completion.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area for team access to project information.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to engage multiple perspectives when solving problems and encourage reciprocal learning among team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • CAD experience in either AutoCAD or Microstation or both.
  • Special interest in transportation engineering and design.
  • Strong oral communication skills, able to speak clearly and persuasively in various situations.
  • Demonstrated ethics and integrity in professional interactions.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality in work responsibilities.
  • Professionalism in approach and interactions with others.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $20 to $25 per hour.
