About the position

The Civil Engineer IV position at AECOM involves coordinating engineering services for rail and transit projects in Sacramento, California. The role focuses on ensuring that engineering designs and construction meet client requirements through effective collaboration with various delivery branches and stakeholders. The engineer will be responsible for managing engineering policies, conducting reviews, and providing cross-functional support throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with delivery branches, consultants, and sub-consultants for risk identification and management.
  • Supporting management in establishing a technical governance framework for engineering client management.
  • Coordinating timely reviews of design submittals with other delivery branches.
  • Conducting over-the-shoulder reviews and verifying compliance of designs with client requirements.
  • Providing cross-functional support to planning, development, procurement, design, and construction of capital projects.
  • Coordinating engineering reviews of maintenance, operations, and integration of civil and structural elements.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of engineering management policies and standards.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science Engineering (preferred).
  • 8+ years of engineering management experience in complex major projects, particularly in transit and railway.
  • Strong engineering management skills in civil works including railway alignment, earthworks, roads, bridges, and seismic design.
  • Experience in technical coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • California registered Professional Engineer.
  • Ability to analyze and inspire innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing engineering aspects of railway projects.
