About the position

AECOM is seeking a talented Roadway/Transportation Design Engineer to join a dynamic and highly technical transportation team of planners, engineers, and technicians in the Murray, Utah office. As a Transportation Design Engineer, you will lead the design on transportation projects for a variety of clients in public and private industries. You will also have the opportunity to be part of cutting-edge design projects that utilize the latest technologies for delivering design services to clients. Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team. In this role, you will be responsible for 3D modeling and providing specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise. You will develop study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost-effective work by others and participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables. Additionally, you will develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects, using your expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package. Performing quality control review of design calculations or drawings and preparing technical specification sections will also be part of your responsibilities. You will provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design on transportation projects for various clients in public and private industries.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource and advisor for the team.
  • Responsible for 3D modeling and specialized technical input to studies and design.
  • Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost-effective work by others.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Complete discipline component of PS&E package.
  • Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Prepare technical specification sections.
  • Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional engineering related work environment with heavy emphasis on design of highways/roadways.
  • Utah PE licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of industry standard computer software such as Civil3D, Microstation ORD/Open Roads.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, develop technical reports and document client communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced design technologies in transportation engineering.
  • Familiarity with project management software and methodologies.
