Currently, we are looking for a Civil Engineer specializing in Land Development to join our team in Winchester, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing tasks on multi-discipline projects across various project sites within the City of Winchester and the surrounding region. This role involves the development of Land Development Plans, including the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports from schematic design through construction. The Civil Engineer will also coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large-scale, complex projects and perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, including Stormwater Management Water Quantity and Quality compliance. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects and tasks, complete field inspections as needed, and prepare proposals for new and existing clients, including estimating project fees. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary, making this a dynamic and engaging role within our firm.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks on multi-discipline projects on a variety of project sites within the City of Winchester and the surrounding region.
  • Work on the development of Land Development Plans including the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports from schematic design through construction.
  • Coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large-scale, complex projects.
  • Perform hydrologic/hydraulic analysis including Stormwater Management Water Quantity & Quality compliance.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Complete field inspections as needed.
  • Prepare proposals for new and existing clients, including estimation of project fees.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with Land Development design projects.
  • Applicants without a degree must have 7-9 years of site civil design experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the Land Development process in the Winchester and Martinsburg surrounding region.
  • Knowledge of site design functions: site layout, grading, utility design, stormwater management, erosion control, municipal & land-use regulatory approvals, etc.
  • Experience working with stormwater management, especially utilizing Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus!
  • Proficiency in standard office software applications: Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, etc.; experience working with Bluebeam Revu is a plus!
  • Proven track record of demonstrating punctuality with consistent attendance.
  • Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative Team Player, while also maintaining the ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
