About the position

Kimley-Horn's Fort Worth, Texas office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience to join their Land Development team. This position is not remote and offers an exciting opportunity to engage in site development engineering and project management tasks for both residential and commercial projects. The role involves a variety of land development site designs, requiring strong technical expertise and a collaborative spirit. As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for performing research, coordination, project management, staff management, cost estimating, and permitting for land disturbance. You will also prepare bid packages and technical specifications, ensuring that all aspects of the projects are handled efficiently and effectively. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules. This position allows you to work closely with a team of engineers and designers on diverse projects, fostering meaningful internal and external professional relationships. Responsibilities

  • Perform site development engineering and project management tasks for residential and commercial projects.
  • Engage in a variety of land development site designs.
  • Conduct research and coordination for projects.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare bid packages and technical specifications.
  • Assist in monitoring project progress and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with clients and attend client meetings.
  • Oversee staff management and project tasks.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Experience with site civil design and permitting.
  • Proficiency in applicable software applications including hydrology modeling programs, storm drainage programs, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with task management and concept design.
  • Ability to build plan sets and other construction documents.
  • Design experience that includes utilities, site layout, drainage, due diligence, and permitting.
