About the position

Kimley-Horn's Lehi, Utah office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience to join their Land Development team. This position is not remote and offers an exciting opportunity to engage in site development engineering and project management tasks for both residential and commercial projects. The role involves a variety of land development site designs, requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to manage multiple aspects of project execution. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Civil Engineer will be tasked with conducting research, coordinating with various stakeholders, managing projects, overseeing staff, estimating costs, and handling permitting for land disturbances. The preparation of bid packages and technical specifications will also be part of the job. The successful candidate will assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role emphasizes the importance of building meaningful internal and external professional relationships, as the engineer will work closely with a team of industry-leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors. Responsibilities

  • Perform site development engineering and project management tasks for residential and commercial projects.
  • Conduct research and coordination for various land development site designs.
  • Manage project progress, budgets, and schedules.
  • Prepare bid packages and technical specifications for projects.
  • Assist in permitting for land disturbance and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Build plan sets and other construction documents.
  • Coordinate with clients and attend client meetings to oversee quality standards.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Experience with site civil design and permitting.
  • Proficiency in applicable software applications including hydrology modeling programs, storm drainage programs, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • Experience with task management and concept design.
  • Familiarity with coordinating with clients and overseeing quality standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in utilities design, site layout, drainage, due diligence, and permitting.
