About the position

Kimley-Horn's Charlotte, North Carolina office is seeking a Civil Engineer with over 4 years of experience to join their Land Development team. This position is not remote and offers an exciting opportunity to engage in site development engineering and project management tasks for both residential and commercial projects. The role involves a variety of land development site designs, requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to manage multiple aspects of project execution. Responsibilities will include conducting research, coordinating with various stakeholders, managing projects, overseeing staff, estimating costs, obtaining necessary permits for land disturbance, and preparing bid packages along with technical specifications. As a Civil Engineer at Kimley-Horn, you will be responsible for monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. This position allows you to work closely with a team of engineers and designers on diverse projects, fostering meaningful internal and external professional relationships. You will collaborate with industry-leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors, enhancing your experience and expertise in the field. The ideal candidate will possess a Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or the ability to obtain one within 12 months, along with a solid background in site civil design, permitting, and relevant software applications such as hydrology modeling programs, storm drainage programs, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D. Experience in task management, concept design, and assisting with project management tasks is essential. Familiarity with client coordination, attending meetings, and maintaining quality standards is also required. The role demands a working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and the ability to create plan sets and other construction documents, with design experience that includes utilities, site layout, drainage, due diligence, and permitting.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Experience with task management and concept design.
