About the position

The Department of Defense is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to serve as a senior engineer and technical authority within the civil engineering discipline. This position will involve consulting with depot management officials, engineering and production unit personnel, and headquarters staff to ensure the effective design, construction, and maintenance of depot facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing engineering design criteria that guide the construction, maintenance, and repair of these facilities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. In this role, the engineer will interpret contract provisions, focusing on design plans and specifications for facility construction and alterations. The position requires making professional engineering decisions and judgments during meetings and conferences, advising the depot on appropriate courses of action while adhering to regulatory policies, funding constraints, and program limits. Additionally, the engineer will plan workloads and assign tasks, providing guidance on new or complex aspects of the work to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in civil engineering, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations. This position is critical to the successful operation of the depot, requiring a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Experience in civil engineering design, construction, and maintenance of facilities.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data to support engineering decisions.
  • Strong communication skills for advising and consulting with various stakeholders.
