Rimkus is a worldwide leader in Engineering and Technical Consulting, specializing in building envelope, engineering, forensic consulting, dispute resolution, and construction management services. As a Civil Engineer, you will provide forensic consulting services that require your expertise in civil engineering for various clients, including insurance, legal, and industrial sectors. Your role will involve assessing and determining the cause and origin of structural failures, building envelope failures, and construction defects, as well as evaluating the extent and repairability of such issues. You will be responsible for providing both oral and written reports of your findings and, when necessary, offering expert testimony. Additionally, you will manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of client reports while coordinating with other experts and support staff. In this position, you will perform investigations and analyses of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters. Your forensic assignments will be based on a scope of work and budget that you will prepare and agree upon with the client before commencing work. Field investigations will require you to study and determine the causes of construction defects or structural failures, gather photographic evidence, conduct interviews, oversee field testing, and review relevant documentation. The preparation of comprehensive reports documenting the causes of failures, extent of loss, and recommended remediation will be essential, as will your ability to provide expert opinions in litigation matters. You will also be expected to maintain mutually beneficial client relationships and ensure that safety and due diligence procedures are followed during project completion.
