About the position

The position is for a Professional Civil Engineer focused on the design and construction of various public and private infrastructure projects, including roadways, drainage systems, and water/wastewater utilities. The role involves collaboration with project managers and junior team members to ensure quality and timely completion of projects, while also fostering relationships with utility owners and engaging in professional organizations related to Public Works.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or Team Leader in the production of project plans, specifications and cost estimates for Public Work projects.
  • Supervise junior team members, ensuring their work meets Halff's quality standards and adheres to project guidelines.
  • Maintain project design schedules as assigned, ensuring timely completion of all project milestones.
  • Regularly engage with utility owners to foster strong relationships and ensure clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Texas; or within six (6) months of employment.
  • 5 years of experience or more in municipal roadway, drainage, and water/wastewater utilities design.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices related to Public Works.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer.
  • Experience overseeing various engineering production staff for the design and plan production from beginning through completion of a project.
  • Ability to manage and have direct interactions with clients in the private and public sectors.
  • Ability to supervise technical staff and foster their professional development.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • A positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player, and have a focus on quality, integrity and success.

Nice-to-haves

  • Land Development design experience with projects requiring public and private infrastructure improvements is a PLUS.
