About the position

The Civil Engineer position at Actalent focuses on implementing engineering solutions for Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure projects. The role involves ensuring compliance with California state regulations and industry standards while assessing the strength of various materials and designing necessary systems for EV charging sites. The engineer will collaborate with surveyors, project stakeholders, and managerial staff to monitor project progress and ensure safety and sanitation standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Implement civil engineering solutions for Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure projects.
• Assess strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel by testing materials and soil.
• Use design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs.
• Plan and design necessary and related systems for EV infrastructure.
• Set design specifications by computing grade requirements, ADA access, traffic flow rates, and similar parameters.
• Draft and present reports on environmental impact statements, traffic studies, and right-of-way descriptions.
• Collaborate with surveyors to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors affecting construction.
• Design concrete pad foundations for EV chargers, switchgear, electrical equipment, signage, canopies, lighting, and other structural elements.
• Design retaining walls and stormwater runoff mitigation solutions.
• Perform stormwater runoff calculations and consult with project stakeholders regarding engineering requirements.
• Monitor project progress to ensure design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed as a professional engineer (PE) in the State of California or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
