Our Civil Engineer, PE position is an exciting opportunity for professionals looking to make a positive impact on our planet. This role is integral to our engineering and project teams, which focus on providing resilient engineering designs for the United States infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead an engineering team within our civil and water/wastewater design groups, which are responsible for delivering design engineering and construction management services to municipalities in Michigan and other locations across the United States. In this position, you will engage in a variety of municipal and private projects, including water and wastewater treatment, stormwater management, grading, sewer systems, and water analysis. Your responsibilities will include performing conceptual and detailed design, conducting hydraulic calculations and analyses, and preparing comprehensive engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. You will ensure that standard engineering practices are followed and that appropriate documentation is included in various reports and design projects. Additionally, you will interpret engineering specifications and drawings, recommend design modifications, and coordinate with the design team to ensure project success. As part of your role, you will review contractor submittals for compliance with engineering specifications and drawings, respond to requests for additional information, and provide onsite resident engineer responsibilities during construction to ensure adherence to contract designs and specifications. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) License, or the ability to obtain one within a year. With over five years of experience in planning and designing water/wastewater treatment and distribution facilities, you will be well-equipped to contribute to our mission of providing smart, scalable solutions for challenging projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an engineering team in civil and water/wastewater design groups.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed design and hydraulic calculations and analyses.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure standard engineering practices and appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects.
  • Interpret engineering specifications and drawings, recommending and documenting design modifications.
  • Coordinate with the design team to ensure project success.
  • Review contractor submittals for conformance with engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Respond to requests for additional information from contractors.
  • Provide onsite resident engineer responsibilities during construction to ensure contract design and specifications are followed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required, or ability to obtain within one year.
  • 5+ years of experience in planning and designing water/wastewater treatment, distribution/conveyance, pumping, and storage facilities.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Excel, word processing, and scheduling programs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Revit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
