Our Civil Engineer, PE position in Lexington, KY, offers an exciting opportunity to lead an engineering team within our civil and water/wastewater design groups. These teams are dedicated to providing design engineering and construction management services for municipalities in Michigan and other locations across the United States. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of municipal and private projects, including water and wastewater treatment, stormwater management, grading, sewer systems, and water analysis, while also evaluating regulations that impact these projects. In this role, you will be responsible for performing both conceptual and detailed design work, including hydraulic calculations and analyses. You will prepare comprehensive engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and other supporting documents. Ensuring adherence to standard engineering practices and the inclusion of appropriate documentation in various reports and design projects will be crucial. You will also interpret engineering specifications and drawings, recommend and document design modifications, and coordinate with the design team to ensure project success. Additionally, you will review contractor submittals for compliance with engineering specifications and drawings, responding to requests for additional information as needed. On-site resident engineer responsibilities during construction will also be part of your duties, ensuring that contract designs and specifications are followed throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities

  • Lead an engineering team in civil and water/wastewater design groups.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed design and hydraulic calculations and analyses.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documents.
  • Ensure standard engineering practices and appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects.
  • Interpret engineering specifications and drawings, recommending and documenting design modifications.
  • Coordinate with the design team to ensure project success.
  • Review contractor submittals for conformance with engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Respond to requests for additional information from contractors.
  • Provide onsite resident engineer responsibilities during construction to ensure compliance with contract designs and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required, or ability to obtain within one year.
  • 5+ years of experience in planning and designing water/wastewater treatment, distribution/conveyance, pumping, and storage facilities.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Excel, word processing, and scheduling programs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Revit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
