About the position

We are in search of a tenured Civil Engineer to join our world-class engineering client that specializes in several facets of the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. This Civil Engineer will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, both domestic and international. Projects may include Healthcare facilities, Federal projects, Science + Technology, Higher Education, Sports + Recreation, Transportation, or Infrastructure projects for a range of prospective clients, including state, county, and local agencies as well as private entities. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, serving as a senior technical resource and potentially acting as the technical lead for the team. The Civil Engineer will provide specialized technical input to studies and design for the staff's specific area of expertise. They will develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by others and participate in the interdisciplinary review of project deliverables. Additionally, the engineer will develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects, utilizing their expertise in all steps of completing the discipline component of the PS&E (Plans, Specifications, and Estimates) package. Quality control is a critical aspect of this role, as the engineer will perform quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings, prepare technical specification sections, and provide input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements. The Civil Engineer will work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member, present design solutions to AECOM project teams, and collaborate with other team members to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Demonstrated experience working on site/civil design projects.
  • Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications).
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8+ years of experience in civil engineering and building development projects covering all aspects of building design - survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration.
  • PE license in Civil Engineering.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, Arc GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models.
  • Experience with permitting site/land development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and organizing tasks and teams in a deadline-intensive environment.
  • Experience working in large and complex projects/programs.
