About the position

The Civil Engineer/Project Manager at GRAEF is responsible for overseeing and managing design teams on various civil engineering projects, including site development and municipal roadway and utility projects. This role involves project engineering, financial management, and mentoring less experienced staff, with opportunities for business development and community involvement. The position is based in Minneapolis and offers potential for career advancement to a Group Leader role.

Responsibilities

  • Project engineering and management including project oversight, setting priorities and developing objectives.
  • Project financial management and hands-on involvement in the design process.
  • Serve as a technical resource for site civil team members.
  • Mentor less experienced staff members.
  • Engage in business development activities including proposal preparation and client management.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced multidiscipline environment.
  • Participate in professional society involvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in designing and managing site development projects, municipal roadway and utility projects.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management design and permitting regulations.
  • Knowledge of municipal utility design including sanitary sewer and water main.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Minnesota; PE licenses in other Midwest states is a plus.
  • Good communication skills and a proven track record in client interaction.
  • Experience in business development planning and client development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing a group.
  • Abilities to manage and mentor staff and successfully lead a group.
  • Proficient with Autodesk Civil3D, hydrology and hydraulic software.
