About the position

Dewberry is seeking a Civil Engineer/Project Manager for our Charlotte, NC office. We're looking for a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of design and construction experience in a variety of private and public projects in the area. The individual will be responsible for design in all aspects of each project, which may include site layout, grading, soil erosion, detention basin design, storm sewer, water main, sanitary sewer, force main, pump station design plans, and roadways, as well as preparation of all associated calculations, reports, and spreadsheets. This person will perform project design duties with a team to develop detailed design documents. The Civil Engineer/Project Manager will also assist with developing and managing project budgets and schedules and leading project teams in permitting and construction activities. The ideal candidate will complement the current team by providing additional detailed engineering and construction experience. The candidate should have the ability to work closely with clients and agency staff, including attendance at public and/or construction meetings and also represent the company at other events as needed. Responsibilities

  • Design all aspects of civil engineering projects including site layout, grading, and stormwater management.
  • Prepare detailed design documents and associated calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Lead project teams in permitting and construction activities.
  • Work closely with clients and agency staff, attending public and construction meetings as necessary.
  • Represent the company at various events and meetings.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 6-10 years of experience directly related to design and construction of land development and capital improvement projects.
  • NC PE license is required or ability to obtain within two months.
  • Strong computer skills utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and stormwater modeling software, as well as Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work and interact with clients, maintaining project budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to provide technical expertise to design staff.
  • Ability to coordinate project submittals and facilitate regulatory agency approvals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with public and private project design and construction.
  • Familiarity with local regulatory requirements and permitting processes.
