About the position

Burgess & Niple is seeking a Civil Engineer - Project Manager to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work alongside senior-level professionals in an established A/E firm that values employee input and collaboration. The successful candidate will utilize their technical and leadership expertise to lead and complete a variety of interesting and challenging civil engineering projects. As a Civil Engineer - Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing civil projects, which include civil/site design for industrial development, conducting due diligence assessments for industrial development siting, and designing stormwater management facilities and recreational facilities from preliminary design through permitting and construction. You will create and develop scopes of work and budgets for projects, monitor performance indicators, budgets, and schedules, and manage risks associated with projects. Your role will also involve supporting the planning and design of challenging civil engineering projects, leading the preparation of permitting and construction documentation, and ensuring an exemplary client experience through active participation in project delivery. In addition to project management, you will represent Burgess & Niple in meetings and marketing functions, participate in strategic business planning, develop client relationship programs, and assess new business opportunities. You will also be responsible for completing stormwater and engineering calculations and providing training, coaching, and mentoring for junior staff members supporting projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage civil projects including civil/site design for industrial development, due diligence assessments for industrial development siting, stormwater management facilities, and design of recreational facilities from preliminary design through permitting and construction
  • Create and develop scopes of work and budgets for projects
  • Monitor performance indicators, budgets, schedules, and manage risk for projects
  • Support the planning and design of challenging civil engineering projects
  • Participate and/or lead the preparation of permitting and construction documentation preparation for projects
  • Actively lead and participate in project delivery to create an exemplary client experience
  • Represent B&N in meetings and at marketing functions
  • Participate in strategic business planning, development of client relationship programs, and assessment of new business opportunities
  • Ability to complete stormwater and engineering calculations
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring for engineering team

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • P.E. registration in Ohio
  • A minimum of 5 years' related experience is required
  • Previous experience managing projects from preliminary design through permitting and construction is required
  • Microsoft Office experience required
  • Strong communication skills, quality control, and organization skills are essential to the success of this role
  • Desire and ability to work in a group setting and to mentor junior staff members supporting projects
