About the position

Huitt-Zollars' Rio Rancho, NM office is seeking a dedicated and experienced Civil Engineer/Project Manager to join our team. This full-time position is ideal for a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New Mexico who possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. The successful candidate will have a strong background in roadway and transportation project management, with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience. The role involves leading public works and transportation projects, ensuring effective agency coordination and project development. As a Project Manager, you will work collaboratively within a team environment, providing leadership and overseeing project management duties for various public works and roadway infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports, managing multiple projects with limited supervision, and working directly with clients. You will also be responsible for training staff and reviewing their work to ensure quality assurance. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as you will be required to convey engineering information clearly and concisely. In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate will demonstrate solid leadership and management skills, be self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines while satisfying client needs and solving complex problems. You will be expected to stay abreast of industry trends and changes, enforce company policies, and contribute to a positive team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and project management duties for public works/roadway infrastructure projects.
  • Support projects focusing on public works/transportation with an emphasis on agency coordination and project development.
  • Produce accurate and complete construction plans and reports.
  • Work independently and manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and direct a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise.
  • Train staff and review work for quality assurance.
  • Meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Licensed PE in New Mexico.
  • 5-10 years of experience in roadway/transportation project management.
  • At least 5 years of experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Experience in producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with public works/transportation projects.
  • Familiarity with agency coordination and project development.
