About the position

Huitt-Zollars' Rio Rancho, NM office is seeking a dedicated and experienced Civil Engineer/Project Manager to join our team. This full-time position is ideal for a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New Mexico, with a focus on public works and transportation projects. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience, particularly in roadway and transportation project management. The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as a strong understanding of project development and agency coordination. As a Project Manager, you will work collaboratively within a team environment, providing leadership and overseeing project management duties for various public works and roadway infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include supporting project development, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and maintaining effective communication with clients and stakeholders. You will be expected to produce accurate and complete construction plans and reports, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and mentor junior staff members. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling them to convey complex engineering information clearly and concisely. You will also be responsible for training staff and conducting quality assurance reviews of their work. Strong leadership and management skills are essential, as is the ability to meet deadlines and solve complex problems effectively. Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and project management for public works and roadway infrastructure projects.
  • Support project development with a focus on agency coordination.
  • Produce accurate and complete construction plans and reports.
  • Manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Work directly with clients and direct a staff with varied levels of experience.
  • Train staff and review work for quality assurance.
  • Communicate engineering information clearly and concisely.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New Mexico.
  • 5-10 years of experience in roadway/transportation project management.
  • At least 5 years of experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Experience in producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
