About the position

Doucet is seeking a dynamic and growth-oriented Project Manager with strong technical, organizational, and communication skills to join our Public Works/Water Resources team. This role offers significant career advancement opportunities. As a Project Manager, you will collaborate closely with all levels of management and technical staff in the PW/WR Department, and coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, and other Doucet team members. In this position, you will be responsible for developing project design concepts and criteria, organizing project information and records systems, and designing and preparing working drawings and related project documents. You will provide recommendations on design alternatives, assist in proposal preparation, and oversee the production of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for public infrastructure improvement projects. As the Project Manager on multiple public works projects, you will manage client relationships, project budgets, and schedules, while ensuring quality assurance and control for deliverables, including proposals. You will coordinate regularly with project design team members, subconsultants, clients, stakeholders, contractors, and permit agency representatives, while managing internal and external resources to ensure successful project completion. Additionally, you will coach, motivate, and lead the design team, cultivate strong client relationships, attend engineering and industry events and conferences, and effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks, managing your time wisely. This role requires a highly motivated self-starter capable of forecasting and initiating project management tasks, working independently while collaborating when necessary, and proactively resolving conflicts that arise during projects.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
  • Licensed Civil Engineer (PE) in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering and design, with a focus on public works, roadway, drainage, and utility design.
  • Familiarity with local municipalities, counties, and TxDOT design procedures, regulatory compliance, and agency coordination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software used in the transportation/public works industry, including Highway/Roadway Design, Stormwater Design, 3D software, MicroStation/Open Roads, and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
